Mason Ware Ironstone is highly collectable and sought after today. This high level of desirability is largely due to highly ornate decorations and vivid colours and patterns, with many of these being based upon the early Imari Pieces. They were also not after perfection the differences and inconsistencies on each piece only added to their popularity.
The most important figure in Mason’s history is Charles Mason born in 1791 he became a front runner in Staffordshire pottery industry at that time. He rose quickly through the ranks to achieve the status of Master Potter at the young age of 21. He later went on to push the business to new heights through the patenting of Ironstone China that we know and love today.
A classic “Blue Mandalay” design dinner service from this amazing Pottery house is currently being sold at Just Pip it.
