LLadro Stamps.

Lladro was originally started by 3 brothers. In the beginning they started by producing table are but then soon moved onto the figurines we know today.
The Figurines are instantly recognisable because they are made from hard paste porcelain. The techniques and ingredients for this particular method are kept a closely guarded secret, only known by a few.

Mason Ironstone - Blue Mandalay.

Mason Ware Ironstone is highly collectable and sought after today. This high level of desirability is largely due to highly ornate decorations and vivid colours and patterns, with many of these being based upon the early Imari Pieces. They were also not after perfection the differences and inconsistencies on each piece only added to their popularity.
The most important figure in Mason’s history is Charles Mason born in 1791 he became a front runner in Staffordshire pottery industry at that time. He rose quickly through the ranks to achieve the status of Master Potter at the young age of 21. He later went on to push the business to new heights through the patenting of Ironstone China that we know and love today.
A classic “Blue Mandalay” design dinner service from this amazing Pottery house is currently being sold at Just Pip it.

Scarificator and Scarification

Very early example of a scarificator circa. 1750
Bloodletting is the withdrawal of often little quantities of blood from a patient to cure or prevent illness or disease. Bloodletting is one of the oldest medical practices, having been practiced among ancient people including Egyptians, Greeks, Mayans and Aztecs.

In scarification superficial vessels were attacked using either a syringe, a glass cup that contained heated air or a spring-loaded lancet. The spring-loaded lancet, pictured above and known as a scarificator, was primarily used in the 19th century. The base is brass and the mechanics and blades are steel. One knife bar gear has slipped teeth, turning the blades in a different direction than those on the other bars.

Bloodletting was used to treat almost every disease.

More images are available at our product page where we have a very early example of a scarificator for sale.
